FAIRY DELL FLORA RESERVE (PART 2)

This morning I basically picked up where I left off from my first visit to Fairy Dell Flora Reserve on Thursday afternoon. Walking along Deep Creek Road, I started my trek up Fairy Dell Jeep Track.

In terms of uphill sections, this is probably the most challenging walk I’ve done so far. Some uphills are moderately steep but many are severely steep. I had to break them up into short sections in order to reset and catch my breath. Pacing yourself is really important when it comes to difficult terrain such as this. Thankfully, it’s mostly clay-based soil and rock which gives you plenty of grip and traction with your boots when climbing.

The environment is predominantly bushland but there are some rainforest areas where Deep Creek intersects the tracks. I finished the walk by going back downhill along the Fairy Dell Track, essentially tracing the perimeter of the Fairy Dell Flora Reserve in a triangular shape.

My biggest advice when tackling these tracks are wear comfortable hiking boots, take your time, one step at a time (LITERALLY!). It’s NOT a race, it’s a journey. The last thing you want to do is accidentally trip over, slip, fall down and injure yourself. But otherwise it’s 100% worth doing. https://www.strava.com/activities/9682761360
